The Rowe Center

We are a camp and conference center that offers programs to help people of all ages flourish in their lives and build a better world.

Massachusetts, United States

Founded in 1924 as a Unitarian summer camp, we still offer summer camps for youth and adults. Since 1974, the Rowe Conference Center has been offering weekend workshops for adults on human development, spirituality, nature, writing, art, music, and politics . Over the years, we have had teachers such as Starhawk, Bayo Akomalafe, Matthew Fox, Andrew Harvey, Ralph Nadere, Joanna Macy, Ruby Sales, and many others. Four years ago, we inaugurated a two year low-residency spiritual guidance training program and have now graduated two classes. Last year, we launched a companion program on Sustainable Activism Training.

Rowe’s philosophy arises from a deep faith in the fundamental goodness of human beings, the abiding miracle of life on earth, and the soul-sustaining beauty of creation. We offer workshops on nature and spirituality to connect people to the ineffable; on relationships and communication to connect people to each other; on politics and ideas to support people to live create a better world; and on self-improvement, creativity, and the arts to help people flourish. With program rates on a sliding scale, we go out of our way to make it possible for people to come here to learn, to rest, or just to enjoy a break from their lives. Rowe is a place to turn off your cell phone so that you can be truly present, tune up your so you can truly be yourself, and drop into community so that you can be more fully human.
