Universidad del Medio Ambiente (UMA) is Latin America’s first in-person, accredited university focused entirely on sustainability and regeneration across diverse disciplines, and designed for collective-change agents. Founded in Mexico in 2009, UMA offers Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees, as well as workshops, diplomas, and consulting services. Its learning process is project-based and organized through Communities of Practice.

UMA’s mission is to contribute to a regenerative, sustainable, and ethical future by developing collective-change agents capable of creating initiatives that transform socioenvironmental systems. Our sustainable campus, built with local materials and incorporating closed-loop water and energy systems, is set within an edible forest two hours from Mexico City. It provides an inspiring setting for learning, as well as for connecting with others and with Nature.

As of 2026, UMA has 3,000 alumni and a dynamic, horizontal learning community. We welcome people interested in contributing to socioenvironmental change through the development of collaborative projects and action research.
