Evolving Education is an online platform democratizing educational practices that empower children and youth to take responsibility for their learning, their lives and co-creating a more beautiful world. It is an unlearning and trans-personal journey that has been recorded in about 150+ hours of interviews with leading educators around the globe.
We are Luz Olid and David Caballero at Evolving Education. We have always been passionate about learning, which led us to train as scientists. We worked in academic research, startups and large multinationals in Spain, the USA, the UK and Belgium. We got to lead international teams and train at the best universities, such as the University of Cambridge. Despite our professional success, we were dissatisfied with our social impact. And the higher we climbed the career ladder, the more obvious it became. We trained as teachers, but found an outdated educational paradigm that did not seem to have evolved in the last 200 years. In our previous jobs we had trainings about “how to develop your self-esteem”, “how to work in a team”… But, how didn’t we learn this when we were children?! So we researched innovative educational methodologies that seemed to be left out of mainstream education. There is a huge difference between kids who have developed in environments that empower them and in conventional schools. Their self-awareness, creativity, critical thinking and social skills… And yet, these opportunities are restricted to a few. We could not stand idly by! Along our adventure we recorded all our research. We now had hundreds of hours of interviews with educators who are leading the change. We are focused now on democratizing educational practices that empower children and youth to take responsibility for their learning, their lives and co-creating a world with values.
Particularly, the training program The Learning Expedition is a 3-month online experiential training and community where you can learn the practices of the most transformative learning centers on the planet and lead projects that positively impact your community. It is for any educator that would like to question education and explore different ways in which learning happens.
We have developed the method EXPedition! to guide you through a process of self-exploration, inspiration and experimentation to grow as a person, educator and social innovator. The education revolution takes many shares and forms, there’s not a single solution valid for everyone. Our methodology supports you to identify what works for you and your community.
We leverage the Design Thinking framework to help you find what works in your community. This is a methodology designed to solve complex problems based on empathy, collaboration and experimentation. We have adapted it for education change-makers, to create new projects or make contextualized changes.
